3 Teams to Pipe City Lacrosse Festival

Minnesota Elite Girls sent 3 teams to the Pipe City Lacrosse Festival in the Chicago area this weekend.  We sent 1 team of '16/'17 players to play in the High School Division. We sent 2 teams to play in the Middle School Division: one team of '18/'19 players and one team of '19/'20/'21 players.

After winning all 3 scheduled games and the semi-final game, our high school team played in the Championship Game against an older team from Minnesota: True Lacrosse MN.  Our girls played beautifully and gave them a competitive game.

Our '18/'19 team WON the Championship Game!  They won all of their games this weekend: 3 scheduled games, the semi-final and championship games.  Each game the team progressively improved and bonded as a true team.  Winning this division took much skill, tenacity, teamwork, and outstanding coaching!

Out youngest team - playing much older girls in the middle school division -  gave it their "we are fearless" best throughout all their tournament play!  While they did not find a win this weekend, they won the hearts of all coaches, refs, and fans for their skill development, dedication, and enthusiasm for the game.  They knew they were the underdogs, given they were playing much, much older girls, but they didn't let that stop them from putting forth an amazing effort in every game.

With any tournament, we rely on parent chaperones to make it happen.  This weekend our chaperones worked tirelessly to keep our girls safe, fed, happy, and in the shade!  The amount of work that these parents do for their teams goes unrecognized and under-appreciated.  A huge shout-out to them all:
  • Mary Anderson
  • Suzanne Johnsrud
  • Mark and Tami Kozikowski
  • Carin Mehan
  • Anjie Cayot
And, we cannot have teams if we don't have coaches.  And, MN Elite Girls has the best coaches!  Thank you for all you do for our players.  A big shout-out to our coaches for this tournament:
  • Maria Slusser
  • Meghan Bauer
  • Taylor Zarembinski
  • Heather Pierson
  • Amy Fortney
  • Grace Nolan

We will add photos here as more are sent in, but please enjoy these for now!
